Liz has over 30 years of experience in the field of early childhood education. She was formerly Assistant Principal of the Lower School at Little Red Schoolhouse and taught in the early childhood divisions of The Dalton School and Lycee Francais de New York. Prior to her recent return to New York, Liz was the Director of Field Experience at Wheelock College in Boston. Liz holds a BA in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College and an MS in Educational Leadership from Bank Street College of Education. Liz is dedicated to creating a community of respect where children feel free to explore, engage, wonder and grow.

Zelda Warner, Director of Admissions and Ongoing School Placement

Prior to joining the 14th Street Y family, Zelda spent 15 years as Director of Admissions for Grace Church School. In addition to her years of experience working in admissions and placement at Grace and at our school, Zelda has been on the board of the Parents League for 4 years and has served on school evaluation committees for the New York State Association of Independent Schools. Zelda warmly welcomes all prospective families during the admissions process, introduces them to our program and facility, and is always available to answer questions on the phone or by email. She also counsels our 14th Street Preschool families as they explore ongoing school options.

Maybelline Romero, Administration Assistant

Maybelline, a Lower East Sider since 1986, has been at the 14th Street Y since 1996 and she has been an integral member of our staff since 1999. She welcomes each child and family member by name, embodying the nurturing tone of the preschool. Maybelline has a CDA from Bank Street College of Education and is pursuing a Certificate of Child Care Management at NYU.
