Our 14Y Youth Classes engage heads, hands, and hearts.
Our signature Youth Classes, taught by professional teaching artists, give your child the opportunity to hone their skills and express their creativity in a focused, supportive setting.
Youth Classes are open to children ages 3 to 12 of all needs and abilities* – your child does not have to be enrolled in any other 14Y programs to participate. 14Y and MCC Members, as well as After School and Preschool families receive 14% off class rates! All classes are disability-inclusive and overseen by Support Manager Katy Rieber, MSW, with the support of social work interns to ensure the children’s success.

NEW: NYC Art
Appreciate nature and animals in NYC through art! This class promotes creativity and expression through drawing, painting, collage, and printing. Children will learn about the plants and animals native to New York’s ecosystem and use that as inspiration for their art.
NEW: Nano Habitats
Create a miniature water world in your room! Learn to Our Nano Habitats class will teach you to care for your sea monkeys, fighting bettas and aquatic nano creatures. Show your family that you’re ready for a dog or cat by caring for your own nano pet!
NEW: Nature’s Classroom
Welcome to Nature’s Classroom! Here we’ll get our hands and feet dirty and explore the natural world. By using your five senses, you’ll experience the importance of plants’ and animals’ roles in keeping nature balanced. You’ll learn to identify plants and creatures in the local environment by touching, hearing, seeing, and also smelling them!
Using an online tool called Scratch, coding explores the world of computer programming to create your own video games! Taught by expert coder and wonderful science teacher Cy, no previous experience or knowledge of coding is required to join this class. Please note: iPads will be provided, but students are welcome to bring their own tablet or laptop.

Welcome to ballet with Shoshanna, where the exploration of creative movement will help students gain confidence, increase body awareness and encourage imagination and fun. Beginner ballet dancers will enjoy stretching, leaping, and improvisational movement while combining dance and theatre techniques. Intermediate dancers develop basic posture, and foot, arm and body placement. Students will work at the barre to develop balance, strength, discipline, and flexibility.

Learning to cook is an essential life skill and Chef Jason is excited to show students the culinary basics. From mise en place to knife skills to understanding the components of meals, students will learn cooking skills and how to create their own meals from scratch! Please note: no prior cooking experience is required, but knowing how to safely use basic kitchen tools is a must.

Join one of our most popular teachers Colby to design, build, and race pinewood derby cars. Not only will students learn basic engineering skills, but they’ll think creatively and work collaboratively to build the cars, giving a sense of accomplishment and most importantly, fun. Please note: we provide all materials and no experience required. Please note that we provide all materials! No experience is needed.

Super Soccer Stars
Super Soccer Stars is the classic youth soccer program that teaches the fundamentals of the sport in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Our unique curricula use positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to make sure each child feels supported and confident in his or her own abilities, allowing kids to improve at their own rate. All Super Soccer Stars classes are based on an age-specific curriculum created by a combination of early childhood, soccer, and behavioral specialists to guarantee that each child is learning and having a blast from the moment the whistle blows.

Super Duper Tennis: Mini Aces (Ages 3-5 | Pre-K)
This is a “get ready for tennis” class where the focus is on developing motor skills, athletic skills, tracking and hand-eye coordination. Children learn to trap, hit off the roll and volleys through interactive games. More importantly, it’s about having FUN!
Tuesdays: 3:15 – 4:00 PM | 14Y Preschool Only
Super Duper Tennis: Little Aces (Grades K-2nd)
Players develop athletic skills that help them be better tennis players. In addition, players learn fundamental tennis skills including the basic strokes – groundstrokes and volleys, as well as overheads and drop-hit/feed. Classes focus on swing path fundamentals with each stroke through fun and interactive methods of teaching. Players also get introduced to scoring in a fun, cooperative and competitive environment.
Saturdays: 10:50 – 11:35 AM | K-2nd Grade
Super Duper Tennis: Big Aces (Grades 3rd-5th)
Players learn technical and tactical tennis skills, while continuously building athletic skills. Classes focus swing path fundamentals, classic grip and stroke development for the basic strokes learned in Little Aces and get to learn a new stroke – the serve. Players also learn how to keep score and rally in a fun, competitive environment.

Chickenshed NYC is an inclusive theatre company for young people of all abilities and backgrounds. The Chickenshed model is unique in that it brings together members who reflect the vast diversity of our broader population to create great theatre. Our members represent the mosaic of cultures, ethnicities, identities and disabilities that make up our world.
Core programs include: Adventures from The Shed, immersive live performances for preschoolers and their families and Chickenshed Players (CP), no-audition theatrical workshops for kids and teens where the participants are led by professional teaching artists to create and devise the productions they perform.

Children explore all aspects of theatre through playful games, singing, dancing, puppetry, storytelling, and basic American Sign Language under the guidance and support of professional Teaching Artists. These young Players only perform in an intimate setting in front of families and friends learning slowly how to showcase their talents in front of a live audience.
CP 2: Ages 7-10 | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

CP 4: Ages 13-17+ | 12:30 – 2:00 PM
Using theatrical games and creative activities you’ll take part in devising a musical adaptation of the book The Tigon and the Liger. If you like music, dancing and storytelling you’ll be able to do them all when you workshop and create a brand new show. Using the original characters from the book as a jumping off point to explore the natural world and risks to our planet you’ll incorporate your discoveries into the show demonstrating how theatre can be a megaphone for science, and how science informs the art we create.
