Fall Semester Classes: Quarter 1 and Quarter 2

Super Soccer Stars

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Mondays | 4:00 – 4:45 PM
3rd Grade – 5th Grade: Monday | 4:50 – 5:35 PM
Register here.

Get the ball rolling! Join Super Soccer Stars, NYC’s most popular soccer development program, right here at the 14Y.

Dynamic international coaches work with every student to develop skills, self-confidence, and teamwork in a fun, non-competitive environment. Positive reinforcement and low child-to-coach ratios ensure that each child will improve their soccer skills through engaging warm-ups, activities, and games—all while having endless fun!

The goal of the program at this stage is to improve children’s elementary capacity through fun games, technical skill development and group activities. Emphasis is placed on awareness of teammates constantly so that these skills can be easily transferred into the soccer game.

Every K-2 Soccer Stars class includes ball activities with high repetitions to promote muscle memory that builds confidence and ball control skills.

For players in grades 3-5, we’ll focus on improving their creative capacity through technical skill development and competition.

Chickenshed NYC (Fall Semester: September 17 – December 20)

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Tuesdays | 4:00 – 4:45 PM
Register here.

Children, ages 5-7, will dive into all aspects of theatre making through playful games and activities that fuel their imagination and help them explore the magical world of performance. Under the guidance and support of professional Theatrical Practitioners young Players have fun with games, singing, dancing, puppetry, storytelling, and basic American Sign Language in these dynamic workshops.

The children will only perform in front of their families and carers, allowing them time to prepare for a wider audience when they move up to the next level.

3rd Grade – 5th Grade: Tuesdays | 4:50 – 6:00 PM
Register here.

Unlike other theatre companies, our high Theatre Practitioner to Player ratio allows us to facilitate small groups, establishing foundations for strong relationships within our theatrical community. In this setting, children can regularly showcase their theatrical activities in front of each other without having to wait for an end of term performance. This in turn builds their confidence so that they are ready to perform to a wider audience at show time.

In addition, we invite, at least once or twice per semester, guest scientists to workshop with the Players on themes related to the upcoming show which inspires and fuels the children to add their creativity and ideas as part of the rehearsal process.

TGA Premier Tennis

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Wednesdays | 4:00 – 4:45 PM
3rd Grade – 5th Grade: Wednesdays | 4:50 – 5:35 PM
Register here.

TGA Premier Sports coaches lead students through station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. Tennis is an individualistic sport so each player progresses through our five-level program at their own pace.

Ballet

Kindergarten – 2nd Grade: Thursdays | 4:00 – 4:45 PM
3rd Grade – 5th Grade: Thursdays | 4:50 – 5:35 PM
Register here.

Welcome to ballet with Shoshanna! Creative movement encourages self-expression. Beginners enjoy stretching, leaping, and improvisational movement while combining dance and theatre techniques. Intermediate dancers develop basic foot, arm, and body placement, and posture. Students work at the bar for balance and development of strength, discipline, and flexibility.

Our no audition policy coupled with the belief that all kids have a great or needed story to tell is delivered via the program using our inclusive methodology that encourages everyone to add their thoughts, ideas and creativity to the stories being told.

Older Players begin to have the opportunity to act as group leaders and mentors as well as continuing to create and devise theatre within their own program, layering on and deepening our theatrical community.

This fall kids will be rehearsing for a new musical, Ever After, based on some of Grimms’ famous fairytales set against the beautiful backdrop of Central Park. Unlike other theatre companies, our high Theatre Practitioner to Player ratio allows us to facilitate small groups, establishing foundations for strong relationships within our theatrical community. In this setting, children can regularly showcase their theatrical activities in front of each other without having to wait for the end of term performance.
