The 14th Street Y will keep you healthy and fit for life.

It’s all here. Our carefully curated fitness class list features a deep inventory of all the popular categories, tailored for gym-goers of every age and fitness level, as well as a host of special offerings.

Since April 2020, all of our group fitness classes, from favorites like Yoga, Zumba, and Pilates to challenging cardio sculpt and aerobics with strength training, have gone virtual!

We now have a full roster of almost 30 live-streaming fitness classes to keep our community safe while stay fit from home.

No matter what your fitness path or goal, we welcome you!

The 14Y Fitness Center has also reopened and welcomes members for in-person workouts that need to be reserved via an online system in advance. We cannot accommodate walk-ins at this time. Learn more about our Fitness Center here.

Virtual Class Descriptions

We offer nearly 30 live-streaming virtual fitness classes for members looking to stay active from the comfort and safety of home. We offer classes at all levels, from gentle to intermediate to high intensity, so you can find the class that’s right for your goals and abilities. Monday Classes

Intuitive Alignment with Anne (Gentle)
Mondays | 10:00 – 11:00 AM
Alignment based yoga class with an emphasis on precision that supports joint mobility, bone density, balance and flexibility.

Silver Sneakers with Elizabeth (Gentle)
Mondays | 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM
This class provides a full body workout alternating between fun cardio segments and muscle strengthening segments. We also work on balance and we challenge the brain with some fun drills. The entire workout can be done with or without equipment. If you have a resistance band, weights (soup cans will do!), a small ball and a stable chair, please feel free to have those nearby. Most importantly, bring yourself and plan on having a good time with your fitness friends.

Zoom-ba with Mickey (Intermediate)
Mondays | 5:30 – 6:30 PM
Zumba® is cardio dance fitness to world music rhythms. This class features mostly Latin music and low-impact routines you can do safely at home.

Tuesday Classes

Gentle Flow Yoga with Ashley (Gentle)
Tuesdays | 8:00 – 9:00 AM
A gentle class that combines yoga postures, breathing, and meditation. This class is geared toward students who wish to move at a gentler and slower pace. Ideal for beginners, seniors, and those that enjoys a meditative practice.

Tai Chi with Roberto (Gentle)
Tuesdays | 9:00 – 10:00 AM
Tai chi is an art that promotes balance, strength, grace, and flexibility, and it promotes a meditative mood with its “dance of quiet motion.”

Low Impact Cardio & Conditioning with Louise (Gentle)
Tuesdays | 11:00 – 11:45 AM
Cardio based class with low impact movements set to rhythmic music.

Pilates with Elizabeth (Intermediate)
Tuesdays | 12:00 – 1:00 PM
This class focuses on core strength. Pilates exercises involve the integration of strength, stabilization and alignment. The skills you develop in this class will help with proper, protective body mechanics in everyday activities.

Zumba with Demetra (Intermediate)
Tuesdays | 6:00 – 7:00 PM
Zumba combines high energy, captivating music with Latin-inspired moves that will leave you asking for more! Zumba is a “feel good” workout for all levels.

Wednesday Classes

Pilates Mat with Gail (Intermediate)
Wednesdays | 9:30 – 10:30 AM
Pilates is for every BODY. This mat class focuses on activating core strength, the elongation of postural muscles and the awareness of breath to combat the stiffness and stress that often comes with our daily activities. Open to all levels, this class will have participants feeling invigorated with a sense of strength and peace in both body and mind.

Zumba Gold with Denise (Intermediate)
Wednesdays | 11:00 – 11:45 AM
Zumba Gold is designed for the older active adult. It is a lower intensity version of the popular Zumba Dance Fitness program that uses easy to follow choreography based mostly on Latin Rhythms. The focus of the classwork is on cardiovascular conditioning, with special attention to coordination, balanced and flexibility. Come prepared to sweat, and leave feeling rejuvenated and empowered.

Chair Yoga with Susan (Gentle)
Wednesdays | 12:30 – 1:15 PM
Chair yoga is a general term for practices that modify yoga poses so that they can be done while seated in a chair. Great for all Levels. Stable chair, strap or long scarf recommended.

Vinyasa Yoga with Jolene (High Intensity)
Wednesdays | 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Mind and body come together as you move smoothly through yoga poses, while maintaining awareness of breath. Achieve better posture, flexibility, balance & strength to improve your focus.

Thursday Classes

Cardio and Tone with Toni (Intermediate)
Thursdays | 11:00 – 11:45 AM
Full body workout with a balance of cardio and strengthening exercises.

Silver Sneakers with Core and More with Elizabeth (Gentle/Intermediate)
Thursdays | 12:00 – 12:45 PM
This class provides a full body workout alternating between fun cardio and muscle strengthening segments. We also work on balance and challenge the brain with fun drills. We will end the class with a 10 minute floor workout. Feel free to participate in just the standing segment. If you’d like to join us for the final floor segment, either a mat or a soft carpet will do.

Functional Training with Shana (Gentle)
Thursdays | 1:00 – 2:00 PM
This class is a series of guided exercises meant to enhance body awareness for improved posture, balance and strength. Optimal alignment is reinforced to perform strength exercises with movements like squatting, bending, reaching and lifting. Bone density improvement benefits can be enhanced by using free weights like dumbbells or safely held objects but they are not necessary to benefit from the class.

Intuitive Alignment with Anne (Beginner)
Thursdays | 5:00 – 6:00 PM
Alignment based yoga class with an emphasis on precision that supports joint mobility, bone density, balance and flexibility.

Pilates with Leorna (Intermediate)
Thursdays | 7:00 – 8:00 PM
Think “long lean body.” This class focuses on strength and flexibility of the major muscle groups based on the traditional studies of Joseph Pilates. The exercises combine core activities and breathing.

Friday Classes

Hatha Yoga with Chintamani (Intermediate)
Fridays | 9:00 – 10:00 AM
Gentle yoga class designed to condition your body, improve your health, and calm your mind. Detailed instructions help prevent injuries and create a welcoming atmosphere for beginners and more studied practitioners alike.

Tai Chi with Roberto (Gentle)
Fridays | 10:30 – 11:15 AM
Develop balance, body and breath control, strength, and posture in this harmonious class.

BodyWeight Workout with Johari (Intermediate)
Fridays | 11:30 AM – 12:15 PM
Push-ups, squats and lunges will be incorporated into this challenging workout that’s guaranteed to have you feeling and looking great! Postural awareness, breath and traditional strength training exercises will be fueled by an understanding of the value of alignment and bodyweight resistance that will help you accomplish your fitness goals.

Saturday Classes

Punches and Plies with Brad (High Intensity)
Saturdays | 9:45 – 10:30 AM
This hybrid class will include movements from boxing and barre giving you a great total body workout. Work on your balance, flexibility, stability and strength with bouts of cardio.

Masala Bhangra with Cloe (Intermediate)
Saturdays | 10:30 – 11:15 AM
An Indian dance-based fitness program for people of all ages and fitness levels. You will be introduced to high energy Bhangra and Bollywood dance movements in an easy to follow fitness format.

Pilates with Julie C. (Intermediate)
Saturdays | 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Combines diaphragmatic breath sequences, balance, isometric abdominal holds, movements that stabilize the pelvis and strengthen the body’s powerhouse, and stretch – all using bodyweight exercises, a tall-backed chair, and a thick yoga mat.

Sunday Classes

Resilient Strength with Shana (Gentle/Intermediate)
Sundays I 10:00 – 10:50 AM
20 minutes of cardio training followed by 20 minutes of bodyweight and free weight exercises all designed to improve balance, muscle strength and joint stability.

Vinyasa Yoga with Natalia (High Intensity)
Sundays | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Athletic style of flow yoga offers variety of sequencing, providing variations in each pose for all levels. This practice increases athleticism by combining hard work and deep relaxation.

Slow Flow Yoga with Leorna (Gentle)
Sundays | 12:00 – 1:00 PM
A meditative practice, emphasizing peace and calm in body and mind.

Zumba with Celeste (Intermediate)
Sundays | 1:00 – 2:00 PM
Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness.
