Coping Resources for the Holidays

For many of us, this time of year can feel overwhelming. Seeing all the cheer and excitement from others may be difficult, but it is important to remember there is no correct way for how someone should celebrate the holiday season.

Keep in mind that everyone experiences emotions like loneliness differently. In addition to making time to connect with your community at one of our events, here are some tips to keep up your spirits:

Make a special occasion for yourself. Pick out a good movie, a snack and get cozy. Create something you can look forward to in your space or even go to the movie theater!

Lift your spirits with music on Wednesday, December 6, in Washington Square Park, where the Rob Susman Brass Quartet will be performing from 6:00 – 7:00 PM. Head over to join in song and celebration with candy canes, lights, and Santa Claus. They will also be having caroling on December 24 from 5:00 – 6:00 PM as they light the Washington Square Arch.

Pick up a new craft. Learn how to knit or draw. By allowing yourself to be creative, you can create some décor for your home or a new gift for a friend. The bright colors will help you feel at ease and will bring you some cheer!

Morning options are offered Monday through Friday (no Wednesday). Afternoon options are on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. While we may not be able to guarantee your 1st choice, we’re committed to accommodating as many participants as possible. If you anticipate missing several sessions, please postpone this cycle until you can attend all 10 sessions. Expect to be contacted first week in January with your scheduled session.
