we are family
We believe play is a child’s work. Every class, activity, and experience we design for children offers a fun and meaningful learning opportunity. From baby and me classes and parenting classes support to after school and youth sports, our commitment is to the well-being of the whole family.
Virtual Early Childhood Programs
More than just your downtown fitness connection!
We are a vibrant community center grounded in the belief that contemporary Jewish sensibilities can be a source of inspiration, connection, and learning for the individuals and families we serve throughout downtown Manhattan. We focus on health and fitness, education and enrichment programs, and innovative arts and cultural programming.
We are committed to the development of the whole person and bettering people’s lives and strengthening individual and family connections by building an inclusive and sustainable community.
The 14th Street Y is part of Educational Alliance’s network of community centers in Lower Manhattan. We believe strong communities can transform lives. Our programs turn strangers into neighbors and provide New Yorkers access to quality education, health and wellness services, arts and culture, and civic engagement opportunities.
Many exciting things are happening at the 14Y. Our staff are making important health and safety updates across our building including upgrading our HVAC filters, and installing signage and hand sanitizing stations. Meanwhile, our Preschool teachers are busy cleaning and preparing their classrooms to welcome back children for in-person learning beginning mid-September.
Although New York State is allowing fitness centers to reopen in a very limited capacity in NYC this week, the 14Y fitness center has not set a reopening date just yet. We are working hard on a reopening plan specifically for our fitness center that upholds the highest standards of health and safety for our members and staff. We also plan on reopening our pool when we are allowed to do so and when we believe it is safe.
We are as eager as you to work out in our center again soon! In the meantime, we hope to see you virtually at one of the more than 25 live-streaming fitness classes we have each week.
