New Exhibit: Hyphen: Jewish Stories in Our Own Words

On Display: December 29 – March 1

This exhibition showcases three deeply personal stories of contemporary Jewish life told in the creators’ own voices through the captivating language of comics. Drawn from a graphic anthology published by Be’chol Lashon and FairSquare Graphics, these stories illuminate the diversity, complexity, and humanity of the Jewish experience.

In our lobby gallery, we learn about a Ugandan woman who broke barriers to become her community’s first female rabbi. Our second floor gallery features two additional stories: a woman celebrating her beloved Indian Jewish heritage, and a Midwesterner who came to New York to find their authentic self.

From ancient traditions to modern journeys, this exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the many ways Jewish identity is lived, shaped, and expressed today.

The exhibition was made possible with the support of the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes and JCRC NY.

Hyphen: Jewish Stories In Our Own Words is a collaboration of Be’chol Lashon and Fairsquare Graphics. To learn more about Hyphen and order the vibrant graphic novel anthology that brings together real-life stories of Jews from diverse backgrounds visit www.globaljews.org/hyphen
