This spring, join us for the open painting studio! This is a designated time and space for ongoing creative expression and exploration through painting – using watercolor, acrylic, and/or oil. Materials will be provided. Lifelong artists and aspiring artists are welcome.

Air, Water and Land: A Spring Visual Theatre Intensive with Concrete Temple Theatre

Concrete Temple Theatre will be leading a spring 2024 intensive in visual theatre, in which Sirovich artists and members will be teamed with professional artists and puppeteers to form small collective groups. Each group will work collaboratively to create a visual theatre piece that will make use of text, puppetry, etc.

Stress Less! a Stress Management Workshop with Social Worker Sheryl

It’s Mental Health Awareness Month! In this workshop, we will learn about different types of stress and the ways it can impact our physical and mental health. With an awareness of how stress influences our brains and bodies, we will engage in mindfulness-based stress reduction through some gentle stretches/movements, deep breathing, and a guided visualization activity.

Indian Dance (Bharatanatyam) and the Brain with Sloka Iyengar PhD, dancer and neuroscientist | Monday, May 13 | 1:00 – 2:00 PM | Auditorium

Join Sloka Iyengar PhD, dancer and neuroscientist, as we embark on a journey of movement, expression, and rhythm. Sloka will share some aspects of Indian dance such as hand gestures, movement, rhythm, melody, and facial expressions and we will discuss how each of these elements affect our brains, minds, and our health for better health and positivity. Let’s dance our way to health!

AAPI Heritage Celebration Show

We invite you to join us in celebrating the culture and heritage of the Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders led by fellow members of the our center. Featuring performances of songs, dances, and written words from the AAPI community.  Members of the AAPI community are encouraged to wear celebratory attires, such as those worn on holidays or to social events. In partnership with NYC AGING and Groove NYC, this large-scale gathering aims to set a Guinness World Record for the largest intergenerational dance event! Expect dancing, activities, and a lively atmosphere as we unite generations for this unique celebration of the 31st Annual National Older Adult Health and Fitness Day and the 400th anniversary of New York City. We encourage you to wear your 12 ST T-shirts.

Loco7 Puppet Show

Join us for a puppet show where artistic expression and cultural community meet! The show is the culmination of a three-month workshop series led by LOCO7 Dance Puppet Theatre Company, in partnership with Sirovich Center, and featuring puppets created by workshop participants.
