Canned Food Drive for Center for Recovery & Wellness

Join the 14th Street Y and your downtown community for the Jewish High Holidays by giving forward and lifting up our neighbors in need!

Our downtown community is rich in diversity, home to people of many religions, cultures, and backgrounds. But we also know that many of our neighbors need help. Since the Jewish New Year is a time of reflection and renewal, this is the perfect time to look back, give forward, and work together to lift up those in need!

Four Ways You Can Help:

Donate Food Items to Families and Individuals living in Downtown Manhattan

Center for Recovery and Wellness, A Part of the Educational Alliance

Donate any non-perishable, and non-expired food item.

Items in high demand by the families:

  • Canned fish and meat
  • Granola bars
  • Oatmeal and cereals
  • Soups/Sauces
  • Vegetables/Fruit
Dropped off donated goods in the designated box located behind security in the 14Y lobby anytime between Monday, September 17 through Wednesday, October 3.

Free Food Fridays at the Center for Recovery and Wellness

Since May 2018, more than 1,800 bags of food have been distributed to our downtown community! This program is available to anyone in need of food living in the Lower East Side and is available every Friday at 9:00 am at the Center for Recovery and Wellness located at 25 Avenue D.
