KOL: Special Needs and Inclusion Programs
Launched in 2010 as a pilot program with just two class offerings, the KOL program, a program for children ages 4-17 with special needs and their families, now offers Saturday recreational programming including sports, swim, and various classes in the arts. While children are in class, parents remain at the 14th Street Y connecting and building relationships with one another through conversations and sharing information and resources. Once a year a Parent Brunch is organized at a local diner and children are dropped off at the 14th Street Y for special programming. 6-8 times per year free workshops on various topics led by professionals in the field are offered to the parents and caregivers on Saturdays.
Throughout the year we offer a variety of community events such as workshops for parents and professionals in the field.
As of 2014, KOL has collaborative partnerships with other 14th Street Y departments to offer inclusion within already existing programs.
KOL is a fee for service program. Scholarships are available to those in need.
