LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture @ Camp
Camp is…a laboratory
LABA, the 14th Street Y’s non-religious, artist-in-residence program on which the core of the New Country Day Camp curriculum is based, takes its name from the Hebrew word for lava which flows outward and ignites change. The term is also a play on the English word “laboratory” because the 14th Street Y is a place for experimentation without fear of failing. Community members can participate in experimental art, athletics, new sustainability practices, and more. Camp is a laboratory where campers can reinvent themselves over and over again, build confidence and self-esteem, and experience growth.
