Program

Our Program

Campers move through their daily schedule with their groups. We balance the day with a mix of active, artistic and educational activities. Half-day campers swim three times a week and full-day campers swim five times a week. Weather permitting all children play on our rooftop sprinkler playground daily.

Weekly camp wide special events, educational visitors and neighborhood trips round out our exciting program.

Swim Program

New Town Day Camp follows the 14th Street Y’s American Red Cross Learn To Swim Program. All classes are taught by certified Water Safety Instructors and one New Town Day Camp counselor. Our Learn To Swim Program consists of six levels that teach children of all ages and ability to swim skillfully and safely. Camp utilizes the 14th St. Y’s beautiful heated indoor pool. Full-day campers swim every day and half-day campers swim three times a week.

Lunch & Snack

Campers bring their own dairy or vegetarian style lunch.  We are a Jewish Community Center and are respectful of Kashrut dietary restrictions. Therefore, New Town Day Camp adheres to a dairy/pareve-only policy on lunches.  No meat, or shellfish is allowed in the children’s lunches, even if it is kosher meat.  A dairy/vegetarian lunch may include:  bread products, jelly, cheese, tuna, white fish, salmon or lox, eggs, macaroni and cheese, pasta, rice, cheese pizza, hummus, yogurt, vegetables, fruits, soy and vegetarian products, beans, and healthy treats.  We refrigerate all campers lunches.

New Town Day Camp is a NUT-FREE ZONE and we request that all families check nutritional labels before sending in any food product.

We provide a healthy daily snack and water for all children. Snacks may include apples and sun butter, brown rice cakes, cheese sticks and pretzels.
